The 80’s, I can still remember, back in the ’80s when Rubik’s Cube was first released, when the Royal Wedding was first televised. When the first artificial heart was used. We had the first MLK Jr Day. We had the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, The Titanic Wreckage was discovered. Wall Street took a dive. We can’t forget the Challenger Disaster and where we were when that happened. Pac-Man was the video arcade game everyone was putting quarters down on! Michael Jackson releases Thriller and moonwalks for the first time in Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Bruce Springsteen releases “Born in the USA” and of course, the internet was born in the 80’s. The 80’s was a simple but fun time with events that changed our lives forever.
But you know what also started in 1980’s, 1980 to be exact…
Yes, in a small agriculture town, a lone man, Antonio “Tony” Torres, decided to open a small insurance office off the main drag on Oxnard Blvd. When everyone thought he was crazy opening a new business when the economy had taken a dive and inflation was on the rise. Tony proved to everyone that Insurance was recession-proof and that if you treat everyone with respect and care to help people, they will not only come back but will bring friends and family back with them because, at Torres & Associates, family is first.
Now 41 years later, those same values Tony has always lived by hold true and have put him as a local legend, serving his community by just being Tony “The Man”.
Today, Tony likes to take time with his wife Claudia and travel and continues to stay busy while stopping in from time to time to check on the new team members he has chosen to continue what he started.
